My research interests broadly address questions of why and how development models are constructed, institutionalized, and applied. My work on value chains focuses on the interactions between agro-food industries, institutional and multi-scalar governance, and social/economic actors. I am particularly interested in the role of state/social regulation in shaping value chains and the ways economic actors respond. My work also explores variation in value chain structure and its socio-economic implications. More recently, my work includes gender relations in value chains.
